Bunraku puppeteers give a lecture/demonstration and perform classics and contemporary pieces. Bunraku puppetry involves a complex technique accompanied by narrative chanting and music. Each nearly life-sized puppet requires three puppeteers to bring it to life. The Dilena Takeyama Japan Center has sponsored world-renowned Japanese Bunraku puppeteer Kanroku and the Mokugu-sha Company from Osaka, Japan, to perform here at SFSU. Be prepared for a rare treat, filled with dramatic myths and legends.
